Waiting for the sunrise outside Loughcrew Cairn T on 21st September 2004
The sun finally breaks through the low cloud at 7:20am. The
photograph was taken by the side of Cairn T looking east.
This image photographed at 7:27am shows the beam of equinox sunlight illuminating the left side of the backstone.
This image photographed at 7:32am shows the sunbeam illuminating the
centre of the backstone. The dark patch in the centre is a shadow
from part of the iron gate at the entrance to the cairn.

This image photographed at 7:55am shows the sunbeam moving off the
backstone and illuminating the stones to the front and side of the
back recess.
In this image photographed at 8:13am the sunbeam has move to the right of
the backstone. Notice the sun symbol illuminated on the front stone of the recess.
The progress of the sunbeam on the backstone inside Cairn T at Loughcrew was video recorded at sunrise
on the morning of March 23rd 2005. The 50 minute video has been compressed to 1 minute 46 seconds
